About

Crude oil is a vital resource for the continued operation of the world economy as we know it. As new oil resources become increasingly more expensive to find and difficult to recover the world as we know it early in the 21st century will change.

The great danger is that nations will not be able to adapt to the required changes in oil consumption that will be necessary in order to avoid severe adjustments in living standards. The adjustment could be especially painful to large consumers of oil, like the United States, which alone consumes about 25% of the world’s annual oil production.

The race is on to find alternative energy sources and to conserve oil before severe consequences come into play. It is this race and the implications of peak oil that this blog will follow. Wars have been fought over far less reasons than shortages of critical energy supplies. This is a race that the human race must win if civilization is to continue without life threatening disruptions to all.
